Review Week 5

Shape:  This poster design represents Shape because it uses many different shapes and forms to display the message. The bold shapes are very easy to see and are obvious as to what shape they are. This has rectangles, and organic shapes involved in the design.

Line: This design uses line because the whole design is made up of different types of lines. Vertical, horizontal, diagonal and abstract lines are all seen in this design. The lines are used to make the design look somewhat 3D.
Texture:  This advertisement uses texture as the main focus of design. The texture is shown by looking like a liquid splashing, it creates an effect that is appealing to the audience. It makes the drink look refreshing and cold to drink.

Value: This advertisement uses the element of Value. It is shown by all the different shades of colors and the lightness and darkness used. Value draws attention to the advertisement and makes the audience want to keep looking at it.

Space: This poster advertisement uses the element space. It mostly uses negative space to form the image. The negative space acts as a "cut out" and shows how simple a design can be, but still portray a message.

#1 Podcast Elements of Design

What does it take to create good graphic design? Understanding of elements and design principles.

What is the difference between elements and principles elements components or parts, the things we add to a design. Principles are what tell us how to organize the elements on the page or sceren.

Name the six (6) elements of design. Line, shape, space, texture, value, color

What can lines aid in, when alone or combined with  other lines or shapes? Specific meaning, aid of readability, and message of a desgin

Which lines suggest a feeling of rest? Why do you think? Bv they are flat and look like they are laying down or staying still

Vertical lines communicate a feeling of what? Why do you think? Liftiness because they are going up and down. They make you feel short

What lines suggest a feeling of movement? Why do you think? Diagonal lines. They are unstable in gravity and you ale your eyes to move to see them

Soft, shallow curved lines suggest what? Why do you think? Comfort safety relaxation they go easy on the eyes

These lines suggest confusion and turbulence? Why do you think? Sharp deep lines

What element defines a specific area of space? shapes

What is the difference between two dimensional shapes and three dimensional shapes? Width and height = 2D depth with height = 3D

Describe the difference between geometric shapes and organic shapes? Geometric is structure and cemtrical ex. Squares, circles, triangles. And natural/organic are found in nature irregular.. ex. leaves

What are abstract shapes? Stylized versions of natural/organic shapes ex. Handicap sign

Which basic shape projects an attitude of honesty or equality? Square- honesty/equality

What do triangles suggest? Action or stability

Circles convey feelings of what? Feeling of protection of infinity

Describe positive space and negative space?
positive- objects and elements used in design contains all elements
Negative- shapes around or between elements gives eye a place to rest

What is texture? Actual surface of a design, can feel the design, or implied texture

Incorporating texture into a design can help do what? Help create a feeling of richness and depth

What is value? Degree of light and dark in a design contrast of white and black
